Mariam Matrem Virginem

Duration | 3.50

Containing simple descriptions of the Virgin based on the beautiful text Alma Redemptoris Mater, this gentle hymn was inspired by a 14th century Spanish carol. The text dates from the 11th century. There is a strong medieval flavour to this simple setting. The melodic line is best with a soloist, but can be sung with a unison group.
