Crist and Sainte Marie
Duration | 2.30 [minimum]
St. Godric was an English visionary who lived in the 12th Century. This vision is of the soul of his sister, Burgwen, who was recently dead, suspended on an altar between Christ and St. Mary constantly singing the following words:
“(Lord have mercy/Christ have mercy) Christ and St. Mary have brought me to this altar so that I may not touch the ground with my bare feet”.
This setting need a purity of tone and an understanding of early music idioms. This work may be performed with as few as three solo voices and repeated as often as is necessary to increase the length. Feel free to adapt the arrangement to suit the ensemble. Note that this version is suitable for low voices with adaptation.
