Commissioned by Chanticleer in 2012, this work is a beautiful, arching vocalise. The song explores the myth of the song heard on the wind by the people of the Blasket Islands off the coast of Ireland, and the melodic ideas are based on the music that has become known as "Port na bPucaí" [Melody of the Ghosts].
"Irish composer Michael McGlynn's haunting "Amhrán na Gaoithe" [has] strung parallel lines over drones before evoking sea and wind in eddies of sound."
