St. Godric was an English visionary who lived in the 12th Century. This vision is of the soul of his sister, Burgwen, who was recently dead, suspended on an altar between Christ and St. Mary constantly singing the following words:
"(Lord have mercy/Christ have mercy) Christ and St. Mary have brought me to this altar so that I may not touch the ground with my bare feet".
